Trustee Ryan Anderson, P.E., brings experience in Alaska’s infrastructure, transportation systems, and public service. He currently serves as Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, where he leads the Department in transportation investments that improve economic vitality.

His career has spanned both mining and transportation, where he earned his Professional Civil Engineering license in 2003, working for the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities. Throughout his career, he has taken lead roles in the development of large capital works projects, operations of multi-modal transportation networks, and working with culturally diverse communities throughout Alaska.

Trustee Anderson moved to Alaska in 1993 to attend the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, and graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in geological engineering.

Trustee Anderson was appointed to the Board of Trustees on September 11, 2023 to hold one of two seats reserved for the cabinet members or heads of principal departments of state government per AS 37.13.050(a). During the September 26, 2024, Annual Meeting, he was appointed Chair of the Audit Committee, which was renamed the Ethics, Audit & Cybersecurity Committee in May 2025 to reflect its expanded scope, and he currently serves in that role.

APFC operates under the oversight of a six-member Board of Trustees. The Board serves as fiduciaries of the Alaska Permanent Fund and is responsible for ensuring the Fund is managed in accordance with state law and the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and financial stewardship.
