The Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation (APFC) collects data from visitors to www.apfc.org, and does not collect any data other than that listed below:

1. Data voluntarily submitted by users through the “contact us” web form.  This includes name, mailing address, phone number, email address, requested hard copy publications and any comments submitted.
2. Data voluntarily submitted by users into the search window. APFC keeps a record of terms entered into the search bar, and the cumulative total of times each submitted term is searched for. Search term information is collected in aggregate, and is not attributable to individual visitors. 
3. Data collected from all visitors through the use of “cookies.”  This includes the number of pages visited, duration of visit, country where the visitor appears to be physically located and the browser and version used to access the site.  Usage data is collected in aggregate, and is not attributable to individual visitors. 

Agreement by the User

When the user submits information through the web contact form or the search bar, the user agrees that they understand the information will be collected and stored in accordance with State of Alaska public record retention requirements, and may be requestable under the State of Alaska Public Records Act. 

When the user checks one of the boxes on the web form that triggers a forwarding action, the user agrees that their information will be auto forwarded to an organization outside of the APFC as listed below:

Permanent Fund Dividend Division, State of Alaska Department of Revenue:
If a user checks the “Permanent Fund Dividend” box, all of the information submitted on their contact form will be auto forwarded by the system to the Permanent Fund Dividend Division.

Mailing services contractor:
If a user checks any of the boxes next to the listed hard copy publications on the web form, all of the information submitted on the contact form will be auto forwarded to the commercial mailing services firm that is under contract to the APFC.  At present, this contractor is Alaska Laser Printing and Mailing, which is based in Anchorage, AK.

APFC is not responsible for the release of user submitted data by the above organizations.

Agreement by the APFC

APFC will never sell or publish any of the collected or submitted user data recorded by apfc.org, except in the manner described in this policy.  APFC will only use contact information to contact users in the manner which they have requested. These requests are made by checking the corresponding boxes on the web contact form or submitting a question in the comments section.

The data collected from or submitted by users may be considered a public record and may be available upon request under the State of Alaska Public Records Act.  The State of Alaska Department of Education publishes a records retention schedule for use by all state agencies.  This schedule requires that records generated when a user interacts with a web site be retained by the agency for a minimum of five years.

APFC may use the aggregate data collected to improve the site, such as by ensuring that the site is compatible with the most commonly used browsers, or highlighting information that is the subject of common search terms to make the site more user friendly.
